Signed MOU with Bridge Data Centres, a leading hyperscale data center digital infrastructure provider headquartered in Singapore, to promote energy solution business

Plans to implement data center-specific solutions such as AI energy management systems, backup power, and immersion cooling

Aims to become a global energy solution provider by establishing a system for the development and validation of energy solutions

SK Innovation embarks on full-scale entry into essential energy solutions for hyperscale data center operations in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

SEOUL, South Korea — June 12, 2025 — SK Innovation announced on June 12 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bridge Data Centres (Bridge DC), a Singapore-headquatered hyperscale data center digital infrastructure provider, at the SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on June 11. The agreement aims to jointly advance energy solutions for data centers.

Bridge Data Centres designs, builds and operates bespoke digital infrastructure solutions for hyperscalers with a strong record of operating more than 1GW hyperscale data centers across the Asia-Pacific region, including Malaysia, Thailand and India.

Under this MOU, SK Innovation will provide energy solutions to one of Bridge DC’s hyperscale AI data center located in Malaysia. This facility is one of the largest in Asia, with a capacity exceeding that of Korea’s largest data center (270MW).

Specifically, SK Innovation plans to apply the following dedicated solutions to the data center:

• Implement an AI-based Data Center Management System (DCMS)

• Design integrated backup power systems including Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and fuel cells

• Provide advanced immersion cooling technology and refrigerant

SK’s DCMS offers enables real-time monitoring of power flow and abnormal signals throughout data centers, ensuring the prompt activation of backup generators and auxiliary power systems. The immersion cooling technology, commercialized for the first time in Korea by SK Enmove, a subsidiary of SK Innovation, cools servers by submerging them in Immersion Cooling Fluids. This method is considered optimal for advanced data centers that house extensive high-heat-generating equipment such as AI and big data servers.

“We aim to demonstrate our world-class power reliability, resilient even in crisis situations such as blackouts, alongside our technological competitiveness in reducing operational cost reduction through immersion cooling,” said an SK innovation representative.

Through this agreement, SK Innovation seeks to establish a robust framework for developing and validating energy solutions tailored for global hyperscale data centers, with the ultimate goal of becoming a leading provider of customized, integrated energy solutions in the global market.

Sufficient power supply and efficient power management systems are essential for AI data center operations. With its merger with SK E&S in November last year, SK Innovation has grown into a comprehensive energy company spanning oil refining, chemicals, batteries, LNG, hydrogen, wind power, solar energy, and small modular reactors (SMRs). Leveraging its competitiveness in optimal power supply and efficient operations, the company plans to expand its energy solution business in global markets.

Moohwan Kim, Executive Vice President of SK Innovation added, “This agreement with Bridge Data Centres marks a significant step in validating the technological excellence and economic feasibility of our AI data center energy solutions. We plant to leverage this validadtion to pursue commercialization on a global scale. Furthermore, we are committed to engaging in joint research and development (R&D) initiatives with global AI data center companies as opportunities arise.”

Kevin Guan, Chief Investment Officer of Bridge Data Centres added, “As a tech-first company and a pioneer with the largest live capacity in Malaysia, Bridge DC has been at the forefront of hyperscale data centre development for the past decade in the pan-Asian region. Today we continue to invest in best-in-class technologies, matching local expertise with global experience to deliver world-class computing solutions. Our partnership with SK Innovation reflects our commitment to advancing green energy technologies for data centres, supporting our customers’ goals for sustainable and scalable growth.”
