Accepting ideas until July 18… Providing various incentives such as unit price contracts, long-term supply rights, and joint patent applications
Accelerating field smartening with AI technology following the development of new businesses (secondary batteries, offshore wind power, nuclear power, etc.) and domestic production
POHANG, South Korea — July 4, 2025 — POSCO E&C is joining hands with its partners to secure construction technology in the fields of safety, environment, and quality based on artificial intelligence (AI).
POSCO E&C announced on the 4th that it is holding the ‘2025 POSCO E&C Technology Cooperation Contest’ to achieve mutual growth with partners and discover innovative technologies centered on the field. The theme of this contest is ‘AI-based construction safety, environment, and quality enhancement’, and the core goal is to simultaneously secure actual productivity and quality by applying AI technology to construction sites.
The recruitment areas are development of new technologies (new construction methods), development of new products, smart technologies for construction and quality improvement, etc., and all technologies with potential for field application and feasibility.
For development projects that have been selected through a public contest and have completed performance verification, we plan to provide practical incentives such as unit price contracts, long-term supply rights, and joint patent applications in connection with the performance sharing system.
This contest is being promoted as part of the POSCO Group’s ‘Performance Sharing System’, a win-win program that supports partner companies to enhance their technological capabilities and increase sales. In particular, the Performance Sharing System that POSCO E&C started in 2008 has led to a total of 128 cases of joint technology development with partner companies, and is being applied to all sites through performance compensation of approximately KRW 178.7 billion, including unit price contracts and long-term supply rights. In particular, in 2024, it has created meaningful results such as the development of domestic nuclear facility equipment, carbon-reducing cement admixtures, and landscaping facilities using waste plastics.
A POSCO E&C official said, “Through previous contests, we have seen excellent technologies from small and medium-sized companies being applied to actual sites, and some have grown into excellent partners,” adding, “This year, we will work to accelerate the transition to smart construction centered on the core technology of AI.”
Any domestic small and medium-sized enterprise can participate in this contest, and applications can be submitted until July 18 on the POSCO E&C Win-Win Cooperation Technology Proposal Center website (http://winwin.poscoenc.com).
