Participating in the WCE 2025 exhibition… Unveiling customized total energy solutions to meet energy demands in the AI era
Introducing a diverse energy portfolio including renewable energy, low-carbon LNG, battery ESS, and SMR.
SEOUL, South Korea — August 26, 2025 — SK is showcasing a variety of energy solutions that will lead the AI (artificial intelligence) era, from renewable energy to low-carbon LNG (liquefied natural gas), battery ESS (energy storage systems), and SMR (small modular reactors).
SK Innovation announced on the 26th that it will participate in the 2025 World Climate Industry Expo (WCE) to be held at BEXCO in Haeundae-gu, Busan from the 27th to the 29th.
WCE is an international climate and energy event co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the World Bank (WB). This year, under the theme “Energy for AI & AI for Energy,” approximately 560 leading domestic and international companies representing diverse sectors, including clean energy, future mobility, the environment, and the ocean, are expected to participate.
At this exhibition, SK Innovation will introduce various energy solutions to meet the rapidly increasing energy demand in the AI era.
AI data centers, which consume a significant amount of electricity, face the challenge of securing large-scale, eco-friendly energy sources reliably and economically. To address this, SK Innovation plans to present a blueprint for providing customized energy solutions for the AI era, leveraging its diverse energy business portfolio, including renewable energy, low-carbon LNG, hydrogen, SMR, battery ESS, and energy solutions.
First, SK Innovation E&S, as Korea’s largest renewable energy operator, introduces its 5GW renewable energy pipeline. SK Innovation E&S is continuously expanding its renewable energy business, centering on the Jeonnam Offshore Wind Farm Complex 1, which began commercial operation in May of this year. Furthermore, it is leading the direct Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) business and supporting domestic and international companies’ RE100 implementation.
Next, SK Innovation E&S will showcase its competitive LNG value chain and low-carbon LNG production plans leveraging CCS (carbon capture and storage) technology. Infographics will provide a comprehensive overview of the entire LNG value chain, a first for a Korean private company, from overseas LNG field development to securing LNG terminals and transport vessels, and finally, construction and operation of an LNG power plant. The company will also unveil its CCS and low-carbon LNG production plans linked to the Barossa Gas Field Project in Australia, scheduled for operation later this year.
The presentation also covers the current status and plans for future clean energy projects, including hydrogen and SMR. It presents plans to expand the hydrogen mobility ecosystem based on liquid hydrogen and establish a clean hydrogen power generation value chain, and explains how to secure carbon-free energy through SMR technology collaboration with companies like TerraPower.
SK On will also showcase ESS and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for ESS, designed to stably store energy and deliver it in a timely manner. SK On offers customized systems through designs utilizing high-voltage modules. Safety has also been significantly enhanced through the application of thermal diffusion prevention solutions and battery diagnostic systems. This will complement the volatility of renewable energy and ensure a stable and efficient power supply to AI data centers.
SK plans to actively pursue customized energy solutions that integrate these diverse low-carbon energy sources to help customers use energy more efficiently. This exhibition will detail SK Innovation E&S’s plans to expand its distributed energy business, centered around Busan Jeonggwan Energy, a subsidiary of the company.
In addition, SK Group’s innovative AI solutions required for building and operating cutting-edge AI data centers will also be exhibited, including SK Hynix’s 5th generation HBM, SKC’s glass substrates, SK Enmove’s server immersion cooling technology, and SK Telecom’s AI DC infrastructure manager.
An SK Innovation official stated, “SK Innovation will continue to strive to present sustainable energy solutions required in the AI era based on optimal energy solutions that can supply clean energy in a stable and efficient manner.”
